Step 1. Cut out the Free Fat Quarter Purse Pattern. Assemble the Body piece by matching and taping the letters together. I’m using a 1/4″ seam for the majority of the pattern.

Flip and press with an iron. Sew pocket into place in the center of one side of your lining. Sew the seam gap shut while sewing around the edges.

Don’t forget to back stitch at the beginning and end to prevent the thread from coming undone. Pinch the bottom and sides flat to create the base of the purse. Sew along edge, making sure to leave a large gap in one of the sides to use when you’re flipping the purse right side out (step 9).

Fat Quarter Purse Tutorial - Lining SidesStep 6. Lay the Fabric Body piece over the Interfacing Body piece (I’m using felt in this example because I wanted a softer purse. Feel free to substitute with thicker interfacing if you want a more rigid form.) and fold in half (right sides facing.) Sew edges together. As in the step above, pinch the bottom and sides flat to create the base of the purse and sew along edge.

Very cute purse, love the fabric you made it with. Will have to try to find those fat quarters, maybe Jo-Ann’s or HL. Today would be good day to go thrift shopping and craft stores. Well any day is good for that but it’s dreary, lightly snowing so I get the urge to go thrifting especially.
I’ve made purses out of burlap and lined with fabric so maybe can handle this one also. Great tutorial. Pinned this project, too good to forget. Happy weekend
