Pottery Barn Knockoff: DIY Burlap Easter Flag

Easter is quickly approaching and I’m ready to bust out the spring decor now that the weather is warming up. This year I’m sprucing up my front porch and walkway with some handmade decor like this lovely burlap Easter flag!

Burlap-Easter-flag-Crafts-Unleashed-1My inspiration for this burlap Easter flag came from Pottery Barn. Theirs is a large flag with a “Happy Easter” sentiment at the bottom. I kept mine simple with a stenciled bunny and white pompom for the tail. You could also easily add Happy Easter with a stenciled template using your Silhouette or Cricut.

To make the flag into a miniature version of Pottery Barn’s, I trimmed my burlap to 13 by 17 inches. I then made a half inch seam on both sides and a one inch seam to the top. The one inch seam will allow you to slide the flag pole through. I like the unraveled burlap look at the bottom, but you could create a seam there as well.

Burlap-Easter-flag-Crafts-Unleashed-3Using my Silhouette cameo and this bunny shape from the silhouette store, I created a stencil out of vinyl. Adhere the stencil to the burlap.

I love this flag, I love rabbits and I love the rustic fabric combined with the fluffy cotton tail. It’s the perfect look for spring and Easter!

I am putting together a sort of Easter crafts compilation blog post, with pictures of creative projects for spring. Would you mind if I shared one of your pictures? I will of course credit it to this post. I did the same thing last year if you would like a reference on how it might look: http://aliciasivert.blogspot.se/2014/04/paskpeppen-2014.html

    Thank you for the inspiration!
