Ruler Framed DIY Chalkboard

I’ve been on the lookout for vintage yardsticks to craft with.  Apparently, so is everyone else!  When I finally realized that it was going to take longer than I thought it would to find enough old yardsticks for a project I had in mind, I decided to just make my own faux vintage rulers.  The added bonus to doing it myself was that I could make the rulers any color I wanted, AND I didn’t have to do any wood cutting.  This quick project is fun to make, and now I have the cute DIY chalkboard I’ve been wishing for!

Framed-DIY-chalkboard-Crafts-Unleashed-suppliesStep one:  Dilute the alcohol ink with water.  I do this by spritzing some water on my craft sheet and then adding a few drops of ink.  Paint the mixture onto the wood ruler to stain with color.

I love this idea and if I find enough rulers, I think I will attach the chalkboard to a larger cork board and frame that so that my granddaughter can also pin pictures or anything else she wants to pin up there.
