Spring Challenge: DIY Burlap Wreath

We’re welcoming the season and a few new items with a Spring Craft Challenge! 8 of our awesome designers were each given 5 of the same craft materials – chicken wire netting, green burlap ribbonsisal vine, mossy twig vine garland, and a wood pennant set. We challenged them to come up with a fun craft using at least 3 of the 5 items. Once all of the projects are posted, we’ll turn the challenge over to our fans to decide who created the BEST spring project (with a fun contest, of course)!

First up, Angie…

Spring craft challenge-Crafts-Unleashed

I added a spring burlap wreath to my front door this weekend to welcome in the new season.  I love the way it turned out!  Y’all can make your own version as well.  This was a design team challenge where we were all sent similar spring items for our crafts.  Burlap ribbon?  Chicken wire?  What would you make?  My mind went straight to wreaths.  I can’t wait to see what the other design team members come up with as well.  Y’all stay tuned!

Spring-burlap-wreath-Crafts-Unleashed-Start with the chicken wire and wire wreath form.  Use metal cutters to cut the chicken wire to fit inside the wreath form.  Attach the chicken wire to the wreath form with lengths of floral wire as shown.  It is important to leave the long ends free as we will use them in a minute.  Snip off 6 – 8 inch lengths of floral wire and tie them to the wreath form in various locations in the middle and outside edge as shown.  Make sure they are in a location where they will not slide along the form (the place where the vertical and horizontal pieces cross are perfect).
