CHA Summer 2010: Trend Watch- FLOWERS!

CHA Summer 2010: Trend Watch- FLOWERS!
DSCF0173

Single 3-D flower as a card embellishment. Just don't ask how you're going to get it in an envelope!

Just back in from the Craft and Hobby Trade show in Chicago and what a fun time it was!  I was searching the show with a keen eye so I could bring the Crafts Unleashed readers some of the trends that I saw on the trade show floor.  There were several trends of course, but the one that is near and dear to my heart is flowers.  There were flowers everywhere!  Flowers made of paper, fabric, ribbon, gems, etc.  Give me a flower and I can do wonderful things with it!  Enjoy the many photos that I snapped at the show!

Flowers made with punches, then individually colored & assembled on a wreath base.

Fabric and paper flowers work together for this mixed-media altered piece.

Dress up a scrapbook page- it's become a work of art! Showcase in a shadowbox on your wall.

DSCF0161

Wired fabric flowers add a touch of whimsy.

DSCF0138

These flowers are fabric strips that have been coiled & accented with a brad.

More coiled fabric, set off with a funky button!

So sweet and so simple!

DSCF0159

These flowers are really sparkly buttons, with a hand-stitched stem.

So there you have it!  Many projects showing the use of various kinds of flowers direct from the trade show floor!

What can YOU make with flowers?? I think I feel a challenge coming on……stay tuned!

Yes! Who doesn’t love to play with flowers? I can attest to that with my collections of candy dishes full of flowers.
Thanks so much for sharing all these great pictures.

You are so right! We do love flowers and these photos are a great sampling of what can be done. I’d love to see more of the altered project. That is gorgeous!
