Halloween Favor Cones

Halloween Favor Cones

I love the tradition of May Day cones- little paper cones filled with flowers or treats that you hang on a doorknob as a random act of kindness. I’m putting my own twist on these and making little cones filled with yummy treats for Halloween!

spritzhalloween 013You’ll need:

  • Black magic Core’Dinations Cardstock (Item GX-BMHP-12)
  • Cuttlebug (Item PV37-1051)
  • Scalloped Circle Nestabilities dies (Item S4-125)
  • Glitter Foamie Spider Stickers (Item 106-2403D)
  • Black and orange pom pom assortment (Item 10190-4)
  • Darice Tape Runner (Item 2445-97)
  • Black Tulle (Item 2912-85)
  • 1/4 hole punch (Item 2700-50)
  • Hot Glue gun & sticks

Start off by selecting your orange/black paper, and cutting the 12″ paper into 4- 6″ squares You’ll get 4 cones from each sheet of paper. From one corner, snip off the bottom 1/2 inch. This will be the bottom of the cone and it folds better without the extra bulk in the tip. Then, on the opposite corner, fold the corner over about 3 inches. It should look kind of like this:

Then apply your Darice tape runner adhesive along one edge, from the folded corner to the snipped one. Roll your paper into a cone shape and press edges together to hold securely.

Now you can decorate the front! I cut a scalloped circle using the Cuttlebug & Nestabilities dies, but you could also use a punch you have handy. I then layered a simple glittered spider sticker in the middle, then hot-glued the pom-poms down the front. (Really, the pom-poms adhere the best with hot glue. Wet glue takes too long!)

Use up bits of trim you might have lying around...

If you are going to hang these little dearies on a doorknob, punch your holes on either side and thread through with black tulle. However, if you want to display them as party favors, I  have another idea for you– which I’ll share tomorrow. Stay tuned!
