As a paper crafter I use a wide variety of adhesives. I use liquid adhesives, adhesive runners, glue sticks, Zots, mounting tabs, well- I think you get the idea. I am always trying out new adhesive products to determine which I will permanently add to my list of frequently used adhesives and those that I will cast aside because they just don’t seem to be as effective as I would like them to be.When I saw the Darice Permanent Adhesive Roller in the Consumer Crafts catalog I decided to give it a try for two reasons:
1. I had honestly never seen this product before and I was curious as to how well it worked.
2. The pricing on this Tape Roller is excellent! (Only a dollar!)
So now to give it a test run! First I used two small pieces of patterned scrapbooking paper and stuck them together. When I tried to peel them apart they ripped. That is always the first sign for me of an adhesive runner with a nice strong hold. I repeated this same technique with plain smooth cardstock with the same result. Next I tried a very fiberous textured cardstock and although I did not get the exact same result, I was still pleased with the hold.
Overall I believe this is an excellent adhesive for adhering patterned paper or cardstock to your cards and layouts. I would also use it on simple altered items depending on the surface of your item.
I do believe I would not use it as frequently to attach photos, ribbon, buttons or a highly textured cardstock.
As a paper crafter I am always looking for lower cost adhesives to use and I believe this to be a great choice for your basic paper crafting needs. For the more heavy duty techniques or projects there are a variety of other adhesives available that will fulfill those specific needs.
Stay tuned because I plan to review some of the other adhesive products as well!

I bought the same product recently and I like it as well. I do use for my photos and other embellishments, including rhinestones, and it works great for me. I’m glad that you posted about it.

Have you ever considered adding more videos to your blog posts to keep the readers more entertained? I mean I just read through the entire article of yours and it was quite good but since I’m more of a visual learner.

Thanks for your comment! We actually are setting up the studio to shoot our own custom videos. (See the box on the right side of our landing page? They’ll go there.) But since we’ve only been a “live” blog for 10 days (really!!!) we are still working on getting the video production going. I agree, crafters are visual folks, and little videos will add a lot! Keep crafting, Jenny

This is the first tape runner I have used that hasn’t come apart, and yes it is permanent! The price is great too, as they are very expensive in the stores.

I only saw this because I was googling Darice to find the one that I had problems with. This is the one. The adhesive disintigrated. I bought 3 of them, and they all disintigrated. So I wouldn’t use this on anything that I want to last longer than 1 month in case it turns to dust like mine did…
