Tool Review: Cricut Expression

cricut

This month I wanted to test out and review the Cricut Expression for the readers of Crafts Unleashed.  At one point I had the original machine but just had to upgrade to the larger which is of course the Cricut Expression.

I am a 12″x12″ scrapper and I was not able to make the cuts I wanted with the smaller machine.  This has really been the best investment I’ve made by making this upgrade!  Not only can I cut larger cuts, but this machines has so many more functions than the original.  So let me share a few of the functions that I love about this machine!

  • Quantity- I love this little button.  If I want 12 hearts I just select quantity, enter 12, and hit cut.  It cuts out my 12 hearts while I am working on other things.  I love this feature!
  • Multi-cut- So say I am cutting out some thin chipboard. I just hit my multi-cut fuction and it goes over the same cut twice.  So if my item is a little thicker it makes it through in two passes.  Of course you can also purchase the deep cut blade as well which will cut a bit deeper than your regular blade.
  • Auto fill- This is another great feature as it automatically calculates how many cuts will fit on one page.  So if I am cutting circles and need like a hundred I choose auto fill and it fits as many as it can on that page.
  • Fit to Page- This is a very easy way to get the largest possible cut you can make.  If I want the largest sized heart I can get I just select this, insert my 12×12 cardstock and it automatically calculates how big it can make my heart for the mat size selected.

  • Portrait- This will change the direction your image will cut.  By default the machine cuts landscape.  By selecting this button you can change the direction of your cut on your page.
  • Directional arrows- I love how the directional arrows around the “cut” button will take you anywhere on your page that you want to go.  My other machine would too, but this one also goes diagnolly which is wonderful!

Overall this machine is top of the line excellent!  If you have been on the fence about this machine I think you should take the plunge and go for it.  You will not regret your decision and you will bring your creativity to new heights!
