Last winter when I was at CHA, I had the good fortune to meet Sarah Forhan and Sandy Sandler at the Darice booth, where they were demonstrating the “Bowdabra” products. I was immediately impressed with Sarah and her mad crafting skills, and then even more so when I check out her many crafty web adventures. CraftsUnleashed needed another designer, someone to focus on party/event crafting, and Sarah was just a perfect fit! So without further ado, here’s Sarah, in her own words:

Crafter, Writer, and Designer Sarah Forhan

From a young age I enjoyed designing, creating, and sewing with my grandmother. She taught me the importance of putting a bit of myself into every project, even if I was following a pattern. To this day, I cannot follow a pattern or project tutorial without changing it to make it my own. Isn’t that what creativity is all about?

I own the website SarahForhan.com , and the blog “Sewing and Crafting with Sarah”. I write seasonal home decor, baby, bridal, and hair bow making projects for the “Bowdabara” . I also write easy inexpensive children’s craft projects for Crafters4Kids , a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing arts and crafts to all children.

I live in New Hampshire with my husband and two school age children. I love doing arts and crafts with my children and volunteering in their school classrooms. My only request for my children and their classmates is that they make the projects their own.

I hope to inspire future generations to color outside of the lines because it just looks better that way!

Just wait till you see what Sarah has for us next week- she’ll be sharing a 3 part tutorial on decorated, blown eggs. You won’t want to miss it!

Alyice Edrich is a freelance writer with a love for creating. As a young child, she used arts and crafts as a way to deal with the ups and downs of life. As a young mother, she used arts and crafts as a way to bond with her children. And now, as her children grow into young adults who need less and less of her time, she uses arts and crafts as a way to fill up the empty spaces, and as therapy. Alyice is a dabbler by nature, and often jumps from one idea to another—always willing to try new things, always willing to share new ideas.
