Bar Ball Chain Lariat Necklace with Danglers

The new Ball Chain line from Darice takes this traditional dog tag and children’s jewelry favorite into modern fashion jewelry territory with beaded charms, coordinating findings, and fresh colors.

The beaded charms are the stars of this pretty lariat necklace – giving it a more dainty and feminine feel next to the strong bar ball chain.  Are you ready to to learn how to make your own? Let’s get started!

Supplies:

Directions:

Using the wire cutters, snip the bar ball chain in half directly across from the connector.

Cut approximately 1 inch off of the end that has a bar, making sure that the chain that remains ends in a ball.

Slide one of the 10mm metallic ball chain beads onto each side of the chain, pushing it up to the connector to keep it out of your way for the next step.

Use the 4mm jump rings to attach the stone dangler beads and dangler bead shapes to the end of each chain.

Try to attach a mix of single and double danglers. On the shorter side, keep your danglers between the last 4 beads. We used 5 danglers on the short side, and 9 on the longer side. On the longer side, attach danglers between the last 6 beads.

Slide the metallic beads back down toward the end of each chain. The danglers will secure them. Connect two jump rings together to make the link that will close your lariat.  Attach one of them just above a ball on the shorter side, about 1-1/2 inches above the metallic bead.

Holding the necklace by the connector, allow both sides to dangle freely so you can easily determine where the longer side matches up to the shorter side.

Attach the second jump ring from your pair to the longer side, just above a ball in the chain.

Attach the jump ring to the other side of the chain.

Now it’s time to flaunt your new, gorgeous dangler lariat necklace!

  1. Beautifully done! I want to try it also. I’m really not a crafty person, isn’t that hard to do? Got to think what kind of pendant I’ll be puttin in it. Thanks for this information.
