Springtime is such a lovely time. The flowers are starting to show themselves, birds are singing, and before you know it – butterflies will start to flutter around the garden.
But until then, we can wear them in our hair.
My eldest daughter, Lila, loves to have a bit of fanciness in her hairdos. She loves all sorts of hair accessories, and so I knew that she would be thrilled if I made her hair clips. What’s wonderful is that the plain hair clips used in this project are a decent size, and have grippy teeth that grab the ultra-fine hair of a preschooler.
These hair clips stay put, which is lovely when you are accustomed to your child coming home from preschool with paint, glue and play-doh in her hair, but nary a hair accessory. “It fell out, Mom!”
Supplies needed to make your own butterfly hair clips:
- Alligator hair clips
- 3/8 ” Satin Ribbon (I used Pink)
- Mini Butterflies
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Continue until you’ve reached the back of the barrette, where the two tines are. Trim the ribbon at this point, leaving the tines exposed.
What colour would you choose? Pink, like Lila? Or maybe a blue or a yellow?!? ‘Tis the season to be bright and cheery!
