Freshwater Pearl Necklace with Fabric Rose Accents

There is something about Spring that makes me want to be a little more “girly” than usual. And you can’t get much more romantic than pearls and roses.

Rose and Pearl Necklace

Supplies:

Rose and Pearl Necklace

For some reason my camera wants us to see the pinks, peaches and creams a little more gold than they actually are but that is OK since it lets you see the texture and difference in color a little better. If you click on the photo in this post twice it should show up large enough for you to see the details.

Cut three pieces of wire to about 14-16 inches and string randomly with a mix of the pearls and filigree beads. Rose and Pearl Necklace

Cut a length of chain. The length of the chain will depend on how long you want your necklace.

On one beaded strand put on a clear bead and a crimp bead.

OR you can use a bead reamer to make the hole in the last pearl large enough to accommodate the beading wire.

Thread the beading wire through the very bottom link of chain (inspect the link to make sure it is completely closed with no gaps for the wire to fall through). Push the wire back through the crimp and first bead.

Crimp and cut off excess wire.

Repeat for the other two strands and then repeat for the second side.

I skipped a chain link in between each strand of pearls. Rose and Pearl Necklace

Add the clasp to the end of the chain.

To attach the roses I sewed through them with ivory thread and sewed them directly to the chain. When adding the second, smaller rose be sure to stitch the two roses together for added stability.

And that’s that.  A perfect necklace for your favorite spring outfit, Easter Sunday or as a Mother’s Day gift!
