I’ve seen tutorials for melted crayons everywhere on the internet. I wanted to give my spin on a customized melted crayon. This is a perfect way to use up all of those old broken crayons and create something unique and beautiful!
These customized crayon disks are great to give as party favors or perhaps use as name cards.
- Crayons
- Cupcake Tin
- Cupcake Liners
- Acrylic Paint
- Small Philips Head Screw Driver (or any sharp pointed object that can be used to carve out words onto crayon)
Directions:
Break crayons into small pieces and fill into muffin tin that is lined.
Bake crayons for 15 min at 250 degrees or until wax is completely melted. (Note: I hated the smell so I had to open all my windows. If you are sensitive to strong smells I would recommend you do this on a warm day so you can open your windows and let fresh air in.)
Once melted, take out of oven and let crayons cool completely. Remove paper liner.
Using a small Philips head screwdriver, engrave your words into the crayon.
If you want to make the words pop more, dab a small amount of acrylic paint onto the words, let sit for a minute and wipe off excess.
I love how these customized melted crayon disks turned out — they are so unique and fun! What would you engrave on your melted crayon creation?

Oh my gosh, these are amazing! LOVE THEM. Can someone please tell me though, the “acrylic paint”, is that dry or wet? In the last picture it almost looks like there is a powder on there. Any suggestions appreciated! meeranda1@gmail.com
Thanks!
Really cool!
Brilliant, thanks for sharing x
I guess it would depend on what they were being made for. If for a party favor perhaps the date and name of guest of honor (or Bride & Groom).
these would be good in place of a note in a lunch box with “I love you” or some word of inspiration and then your child could use it dduring the day
