Chipboard Circle Punch Mini-Album

Are you ready for a project that you can whip out in an hour?

And by using some supplies you already have, you can spend less than a dollar on?

I have the perfect idea!

A chipboard circle mini- album.

Crafts UnleashedYou can choose your own theme. I had a stack of photos from my daughters birthday. I took (and printed) more than I needed for a page in the family album, and I wanted to use them for something. The best part about this project is that you can add several “pages” to the book, for cheap.

Here is what you will need to get started:

Lets get rolling!

The first thing you will want to do, is use your large (2 3/4″) circle punch to cut all the photos you would like to use.

It is easy if you turn the punch over, so you can see where it will cut.

Keep on punching, until all of your photos are ready. We are doing this assembly-line style.

Next you are going to start punching with your 3″ scalloped edge punch.

I chose a pastel theme for my album.

I want to direct your attention to the new size of Core’dination Cardstock.

Packs of 40 sheets of paper sized perfectly for cards, measuring 4.25 x 5.5″. The price point on them is $2.97!

I can not get enough of them.

It pains me to cut down an entire 12×12 sheet of paper for small projects like this. But the small packs? They get a lot of use in my studio.

The bonus is that the collections are already grouped into coordinating papers. Made this project easy.

Cut your scalloped circles:

Set those aside. They will be used to mat photos and folded photo flaps. <—-I am showing you how to make those now!

To make a folded photo flap, take a piece of Core’dinations (4.25 x 5×5″) cardstock, and fold it in half.

Then take your 2.75″ circle punch, and insert the folded edge of the card into the punch:

Here is the important (and hardest part) of this album: DO NOT PUNCH THROUGH THE ENTIRE FOLD. Leave a little piece of the fold intact. Can you see the space I left in the above photo? You only need about 1/2″. This will create a folded photo flap. I made that term up. :) I am sure it will catch on…

You decide how many of these you would like to add.

I took an excessive amount of photos for a birthday.

She is my youngest, I take a lot of pictures of her.

You can also use these to add journaling to your album.

I computer generated my journaling, and then used a circle punch to cut it out.

To adhere your cardstock to the chipboard, I recommend a strong glue. My favorite is Scotch Quick Dry Tack Adhesive.

Here is one of my best crafting tips.

I use a corsage pin to “cap” my glue.

Then when I use the glue, I do not have to pick  the dried out glue from the nozzle before I can squeeze it.

Apply a generous amount of adhesive to your chipboard shape.

Adhere a scalloped cardstock circle.

Then add photos to the top of the scalloped circle, or a folded photo flap!

Continue adding as desired.

Then you will need to hole punch your album.

Since the pages are circles it doesn’t matter how you line up your photos. Just make sure they are not upside-down or sideways.

I found it easiest to lay the pages out like a book:

Then you can decide where to punch the hole. Continue with each page of your album.

Remember, you can shift your page slightly, so you do not hole punch someone through the face. (See above.)

When you have your pages punched, you can connect them on your ring, and embellish the pages as desired.

I used paper flowers.

Here is another tip, for the folded photo flaps.

To make them easier to lift, and also add some character to your album, I made some tabs.

Cut a strip of paper. Trim the corners of the strip:

Fold strip in half, and trim the opposite ends.

Sandwich the top of the folded photo flap with the cut strip, adhere and add a cute pearl bling to the top.

Continue embellishing as desired!

Tie some ribbon around the ring, and you are finished!

These would make great gifts. They would be an easy project to mass-produce for Girl Scouts or swaps.

I hope you try one soon!
