Monograms are all the rage in crafting and in home decor, and now it’s easy to design your very own stylish monograms with the help of a Cricut machine. If you do not own a Cricut machine, no worries… you can simply use a pre-cut stencil or handcut a stencil from one that you have traced. I would love to share with you how you can make a bling encrusted monogram as I have made here on the front of a blank card.
- Core’dinations card set, A2 Brights 4.5×6.5
- Cricut Expression Machine
- Cricut Cartridge, Paper Lace
- TomBow Mono Dual Tip Permanent Multi Liquid Adhesive
- Queen & Co. Bling Pearls, Teal Blue
First thing you want to do is choose a Cricut cartridge with a font and then select your desired letter from the font for which to design your monogram. I have chosen to use the letter “H” from the font found on the “Paper Lace” Cricut cartridge. You will now select the size that you want your letter to be for your project and set your Cricut machine to that dial size and cut out your letter “stencil” on a scrap of paper.
You will want to temporarily affix this stencil of the monogram to your project, so now you’ll turn over the stencil to it’s reverse side and add an adhesive that when dry, will provide a temporary bond. Here I have used Mono Liquid adhesive by TomBow.
After your temporary adhesive dries to a good tack, attach your stencil to the front of your project. Here I’ve affixed my Cricut stencil to the front of my blank cardstock card from Core’dinations Cardstock.
Now you’ll want to add embellishment to the inside areas of the stencil to fill in the monogram. I have chosen to use some Queen & Co. Bling Pearls in Teal Blue, but you may choose anything you like… sequins, crystals, beads, whatever you want!
