How to Make Soap Inspired by Snow Globes

How-to-make-soap-snow-globes-Crafts-Unleashed-2Snow globes and Christmas seem to go together.  I thought it would be fun to make scented soap ornaments that look like little snow globes.  This is a great project for soap making beginners, and would even be a fun craft to do with older kids.  I scented my soap with a cinnamon roll fragrance…mmmm!  Read on to learn how to make soap with this fun project.

Supplies needed for how to make soap snow globes:

Snow Globe Soap
How to make soap snow globes directions:
Step 1:  Place blocks of the glycerin in a microwave safe container, and heat at 30 second intervals.  Once the glycerin has melted, add the fragrance and mix.
Step 2:  Pour the clear liquid into the mold, filling it about half way.  Add the ornament to the liquid glycerin, making sure that the string is sticking out the top of the mold.  Set this aside to cool for 10-15 minutes.
Step 3:  Sprinkle glitter on top of the hardened glycerin.
Step 4:  Melt more soap base cubes in the microwave.  Add blue dye to the liquid.  Add and mix just one drop at a time until you reach the desired color.
Step 5:  Pour the blue glycerin into the mold, on top of the glitter.  Let it cool at least 40-60 minutes.

Once the soap is completely cool, you can remove it from the mold.  If you have trouble removing the soap, place the mold in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
Snow Globe Soap DIY
Now you can wrap the soap snow globe ornaments in plastic wrap.  They smell wonderful, even under wrap!  These would make a fun addition to a tree, or they’d also look cute on a present.

  1. What a wonderful different idea for ornaments. Love the post and tutorial. Glad you shared this.
How could a person go wrong with these for gifts. Happy days

  2. When you use these as soap do you end up covered in glitter at some point?

    • Kerry, great question. Yes, at some point you will find glitter on your hands but it rinses off when you rinse the soap off your hands. I used coarse glitter, so it washed off easily. I probably wouldn’t use ultra fine glitter with this project, just because that stuff is so hard to wash away!

  3. These get me in the mood for Christmas Morena!!

  4. So cute! I had been planning on making some soap for the holidays. These will work just perfectly!
