Some background info:
-Hi everyone, I’m Crystal from A Pumpkin & A Princess. I’m a wife, mother of three, and crafty blogger. I love creating inexpensive crafts and delicious recipes for my family. I enjoy sharing my passion for living a creative lifestyle on my blog and hope to inspire others to create as well.
When and how did you get into crafting?
-I’ve always loved crafting, ever since I made tissue paper flowers in kindergarten. Who knew they would come back to be so popular 20+ years later! I spent the majority of my childhood creating projects with my mother and now love creating those memories with my own children.
What is your crafting specialty?
-I tend to create crafts that are easy and inexpensive to make. I like to inspire others to create without having to spend a fortune on craft supplies. I enjoy paper crafting and home décor projects the most but love creating beautiful party tablescapes as well.
What is your favorite thing about crafting?
-My favorite thing about crafting is that it doesn’t have to be perfect. I love that I often think of an idea, then once I get started change things around and end up with something entirely different. The fact that you can find inspiration all around you then build on that to create something that is yours is what makes crafting fun.
What inspires you the most to create?
-My inspiration comes from a variety of sources including fellow bloggers, magazines, and even nature. Everything around me inspires me, I just need to pay close attention and execute those inspirations into crafts. For instance, when I see a broken branch under a tree, I immediately think of creating a tea light holder out of it. The world (and blog world) is filled with inspiration, it’s all about using that inspiration to create and inspire others.
What craft product or tool can you not live without?
-Hmmm, that’s a tough one. I love my die cutting machine but also couldn’t live without Glue Dots. They’re perfect for paper crafting and the pop up dots are great for giving your project some dimension.
What is your biggest crafting challenge?
-My biggest crafting challenge is finding the time to craft. I’m a mother first, crafter/blogger second. I have year’s worth of scrapbooking to catch up on but I’ll eventually get there.
What advice would you give to someone that is intimidated by DIY and thinks they have no creative or crafting ability?
I would suggest start by checking out Pinterest, it’s amazing how much inspiration you’ll find on there. I would also suggest that you start off small and find what you enjoy creating the most. Paper crafting not your thing? Try jewelry making! There’s something out there for everyone, just figure out what you love and have fun with it. Projects don’t have to be perfect to look awesome; it’s the imperfections that give it character.
One fun fact about you:
Besides crafting I’m passionate about baking, or should I say about eating the desserts I bake. Haha! I started baking at an early age too and even competed in a Pillsbury Bake-Off twice.Google+
