Pottery Barn Inspired Easel Place Cards for Easter

I’ve mentioned in other posts that I love projects that have more than one use.  These easel place cards are pretty and practical! They can be used not only as a place card, but also as a food label or just as a pretty photo frame.

DIY-place-cards-Crafts-UnleashedI was inspired by these Easter place cards at Pottery Barn.  Once you have all the supplies assembled, you could easily make several of these in no time!

Step one:  Trim the photo insert to make a mask.  Use tape or stencil adhesive to center it on the front of the frame.

step 1Step two:  Paint the frame white.  Remove the mask.

Step three:  Use the Mod Melt and Mold to make the bird.  To do so, first heat the stick in a glue gun. Squeeze the melted product into the mold to fill it.  After it has cooled, simply pop it out of the mold! If you have strings or extra bits, just trim them off with scissors.  You can also paint the dried, finished product.  I painted mine white so it would match the frame better.

Step four:  Use E-6000 to glue the bird to the top of the frame.  I added the nest to the bottom, just because I liked it!

Step five:  Insert cream colored paper in the frame.  Use a dry erase marker to write on the front of the easel.

I had so much fun working with the molds that I made several other little figures to put on my second place card.  You can see that I filled the border of the easel with lots of pretty flowers and spring time figures like birds and butterflies.

I went with white to replicate the Pottery Barn product, but these would look beautiful in other colors, pastels, especially!  Once you’re done using them as place cards they could make beautiful frames, since you can still slip a photo into the easel.

I think this would make great reception pieces that could double as favors, don’t you?
