Thankful Thanksgiving Placemats

Thanksgiving will be here before you know it.  I decided to get a jump start this week on the decor for my Thanksgiving table.  Let’s get started by making some thankful placemats to remind everyone why we are having dinner.  Grab your burlap cause this one will also add a touch of rustic to your table.

Supplies needed for Thanksgiving placemats:

Well under $10 from ConsumerCrafts for all the supplies you need to make 4 placemats!  Let’s get started.

I used a place mat I had at home and cut the burlap to the proper size.

I then pulled away about 3 strings from each side to create a frayed edge.  If you are worried about your place mat continuing to fray, you can use fray check all around the edges of your finished product.

Then count in from one edge about 8 strings and start pulling strings out.  You can literally just pull a middle string easily.

Pull enough strings so that your ribbon will fit through the burlap.  In my case it was around 8 strings.

Start threading through your ribbon.  I went 5 strings and then repeated — in and out of my place mat all the way down the burlap.

Now it is time to add why we are all gathered together on Thanksgiving.  I spelled “THANKFUL” down the side of each of my place mats with the stencil and white paint.

You could of course add different words to each of your place mats.  I loved the thankful sentiment so I kept all four of mine consistent.

After your paint has dried, iron your placemats and they are ready to add to your Thanksgiving table!

Most of my centerpiece was made with items from Consumer Crafts also.  Head on over to The Country Chic Cottage to learn more on how to make the centerpiece and the table runner.

I am also putting up a tutorial sometime today on those chalkboard place cards for y’all.

So with all of those elements, your Thanksgiving table is just about ready for the flood of guests.  Add a sweet sentiment to your table this year with these Thankful place mats!
